FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is Sports Therapy?
Sports Therapy is an approach to assessing, diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal injuries. No two bodies are the same, so it is essential that a Sports Therapist considers the personal circumstances and physical factors of every individual. Whilst two people may suffer from a similar injury, it is probable that each person requires a different approach to treatment and a personalised rehabilitation plan that is designed to suit their specific needs and current abilities.
  • I'm in pain but I don't have an injury, can you still help me?
In Sports Therapy the term 'injury' is used to cover all factors relating to muscular or skeletal problems. A pain or dysfunction that isn't a result of an accident like a slip, fall or impact is still something we see often. If you've experienced a sudden or gradual onset of pain or dysfunction in your muscles or joints then we can do an assessment to figure out if it's something we can help with. If we're worried that it's something more serious then we will refer you back to your GP or even to A&E, but chances are that we will be able to help you feel better with the right course of treatment.
  • How do I book a session?
You can select 'Book Now' from the site menu to navigate to the page where you can book your session. On this page, first choose the type of session that suits your needs best and then pick an available day and time that suits your own diary. You'll receive a confirmation email with your appointment details.
  • Can I book for a session on the same day?
Yes, absolutely. If you're lucky enough to find availability in the calendar that allows you to book a session today, then we'll be in the clinic ready for you. Be sure to give yourself enough time to get to the clinic for your appointment though, the traffic on the local roads can be very slow at peak rush hour traffic times.
  • I've got an old injury that I've never fully overcome, can you help?
Yes! It's more common than you think for people to recover from an injury just enough to get by with their daily tasks but never quite get back to 100%. We can look back at your injury history and route to the stage of recovery you've achieved so far, then we can redesign a new rehabilitation plan that can help you overcome those last few bits that are still bothering you. If you're up for it, we can even design new training plans for you to follow, to help you get stronger and hopefully avoid any recurrence of the injury in the future.
  • How many sessions will I need?
Every body and every injury is unique, which means that no two treatment plans are ever the same. We will do a thorough assessment of your circumstances and explain our plan of action to help you overcome your complaint. Whilst hands-on treatments can make a big difference in the short term, our movement and exercise rehabilitation programmes are the things that make the biggest difference for the long term. This means that if you take our advice and do all of the movement and exercise that we suggest, as regularly and consistently as we suggest then you will have the best results possible and probably won't need too many sessions to overcome that particular complaint.
  • What should I wear?
Shorts and T-shirt's or any loose fitting gym wear is usually suitable for Sports Therapy sessions. If you are attending a gym-based education class then wear anything you would normally wear to exercise in. If you are visiting for a massage, you will have a private space to get undressed and ready for your session.
  • If I arrive late, will I still get the full session that I booked?
If you're late for your appointment, it may not be possible for us provide the full session length that you booked, especially if another client is booked in for the slot after you. No discounts will be made for shorter appointments due to late arrival. Please be aware that the road traffic on the local main routes of Regent Road, Liverpool Road and Chapel Street is often VERY slow between 3-7pm, and sometimes at other random times of day. Please plan accordingly for your visit and give yourself plenty of time to make the journey to see us. If you're running late, please call us on 07415730016 as soon as possible, so we can discuss possible options based on our calendar availability. Please don't just not show up if you realise you're running late and might not get your full session, we're a small business and that sort of decision really impacts us. We'll always do our best to be flexible for you.
  • What if I have a medical condition?
During the consultation and assessment process full disclosure is required regarding any medical conditions or medication that may affect your injury or the treatment of that injury. All information you share is kept confidential and secure, but we need to understand your circumstances so we can be sure to provide appropriate treatments that won't adversely affect you in other ways.
  • I don't play any sports, should I still get Sports Therapy?
Sports Therapy is a general term for our approach to treating injuries and issues related to the body. You don't have to be sporty or active to attend a Sports Therapy session for help and guidance. However, be aware that in most cases, we prescribe movement or exercise as a rehabilitation programme for our clients to overcome their complaints. For you to get the most out of your session and your time with us, you need to be willing to put some time and effort in to help yourself. We will offer all the support and advice that we can, but we can't do the homework for you!
  • How and when should I pay for my session?
At present, we take payments on site at the beginning or end of your session. You will be able to pay via cash, credit/debit card or bank transfer. You will not be required to pay for your session online at the time of booking. However, if we find that there are too many late cancellations or no-shows for sessions then this may change in the future.
  • What if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please do so at the earliest opportunity. You can contact us via email, phone, Whatsapp or social media. We understand that things can come up at the last minute sometimes, so we will always do our best to rearrange your session for you. However, if you fail to turn up for your session or cancel within 24 hours without an appropriate reason you will be required to pay for the full cost of the session.
  • How do I find you?
The Mountain Sports Therapy Injury Rehab Clinic is located inside Graystone Action Sports centre (address below). You should be able to find both businesses on Google Maps. Once you arrive, you're looking for the first door on your left, with the Mountain Sports Therapy sign on it. Come through that door to find the waiting room and clinic.
  • Is there parking available at the Clinic?
Yes, there is plenty of FREE parking available on the Graystone Action Sports carpark. If your session is after 4pm during the week or on a Saturday, you may need to park further round the building to the rear of the carpark, as the skatepark does get busy during peak times. Please be aware that the road traffic on the local main routes of Regent Road, Liverpool Road and Chapel Street is often VERY slow between 3-7pm, and sometimes at other random times of day. Please plan accordingly for your visit and give yourself plenty of time to make the journey to see us. If you're late for your appointment, we may be unable to give you your full session if another client is booked in for the slot after you. No discounts will be made for shorter appointments due to late arrival.
  • Can I catch public transport to get to you?
We are within 15 minutes walking distance of both the Salford Crescent train station and the Anchorage Tram Stop (Eccles Line). There are no buses which run down Liverpool Road from Manchester City Centre, but plenty which travel along Chapel Street where you would disembark at Salford Crescent train station and walk to the clinic.
